Bricks and Mortar Project

The Mansfield Free Public Library is embarking on another chapter in the renovation of this historic landmark.

Preservation of this building is of paramount importance to the community and its heritage. A structurally sound and energy efficient building is the foundation from which the library is able to provide the many services it offers the community. The Bricks and Mortar Project will enable the library to address immediate property concerns and on going maintenance of the building.

Windows

The windows will be restored to their original condition, which will preserve them for another 100 years and increase their energy efficiency.

Masonry Restoration

The exterior brickwork will be re-pointed to address water penetration. Other repairs to the brickwork will be made and a complete washing of the hard finished semi-glazed brick.

Front entry door

The entry doors will be replaced with doors that will more closely match the original doors. This will provide better operation and include energy features lacking on the present door. The wrought iron railing will be replaced, in keeping with the original design.

Community Support

To complete the project as proposed we must raise at least $100,000 in 2006 in donations and grants. We hope that you will be a part of this important endeavor to preserve and beautify this historic building.

Every gift is important and very much appreciated as we strive to reach our goal.
